GRASS LAKE WATER MANAGEMENT ORGANIZATION 2
Eckman asked what is done with the sediment that is removed. Maloney
explained that contractors have various uses for it. It is not hazardous
waste.
The Board noted the response letter to Bester that was sent since the
January 25, 2007 meeting:
1. Jae Bester, President of Lake Owasso Association, February 22, 2.007, Water
Quality Management Study for Lake Owasso.
Mogg stated that he would like board members to be able to review letters before
they are sent. The Bester letter deserved discussion, as it included information
that he had not had a chance to comment on. He is not sure there is a trend of
poorer water quality in Lake Owasso. Maloney responded that his interpretation
of the Board's direction was authorization to send a response, which was overdue.
DeZellar stated that a better effort will be made for members to see
correspondence before it is sent out.
C. Bills
No bills were received since the January 25, 2007 meeting.
D. Other Business
D-1 Lake Owasso Survey Review
Mogg asked the reason for the survey and what will be done with. the results.
DeZellar stated that the surveyis a way to engage people who live on the lake and
to find out their perceptions of lake issues. The information is not science, but
their perceptions will help shape the study and. identify concerns to address at
public meetings. It is a good faith effort to work with the community.
Eckman added that the survey is not just for lake property owners. An effort will
be made to okitain information from all Lake Owasso users, not just deeded access
residents.
Stark stated that the perception is that the quality of the lake has degraded. It will
be good information far the Board to see if that perception is represented by the
people who live on and use the lake and then whether those perceptions are
supported by scientific data.
Eckman. stated that the survey questions are good, but she would add an
explanatory statement about the purpose of the survey and how it will be used.
