Eligibility <br />All students in grades eight through twelve in the Twin Cities area are eligible. Entries can be <br />submitted individually or by a team of students. All students must mail the required entry and consent <br />form upon entering the contest. <br />Deadline <br />Entries must be postmarked by October 14, 2010 and delivered to the following address: <br />University of Minnesota Human Rights Center <br />Attn: Natela Jordan <br />Walter F. Mondale Hall <br />229 19"' Avenue South, N-120 <br />Minneapolis, MN 55455 <br />Judging <br />In evaluating the entries, the judges will discuss the following questions: <br />Did the videos follow basic contest guidelines? <br />Did the videos address an important race, class, or place disparity? <br />Did the videos use human rights language? <br />Did the videos offer ideas for solutions to the disparity? <br />Did the video communicate its message clearly and effectively? <br />Did the video include original ideas both content and technology-wise? <br />Did the videos avoid the use of offensive or discriminatory material? <br />Awards <br />(1) Most Innovative Youth Action Award; <br />(2) Most Compelling and Clear Message Award; <br />(3) Most Original and Creative Presentation Award; and <br />(4) Best Quality Production Award. <br />All winners will receive digital video cameras. The winning entry in each category will receive one <br />digital camera award regardless of whether it has been submitted by a team or an individual contest <br />participant. The Most Innovative Youth Action Award winner will also receive a cash prize of <br />$100.00. <br />Permissions <br />All entries submitted become the property of the University of Minnesota Human Rights Center during <br />and after the contest and may be used for promotional purposes. (*See the Consent and Video Release <br />Form). <br />Contest Submissions <br />Contest entries must include a copy of the video entry on either CD or DVD. Please contact the <br />Human Rights Center in advance if you would like to submit your entry via a-mail. Entries must be up <br />to 2 minutes long. Entries must be accompanied by a completed contest entry form and signed consent <br />form for all minors appearing in the PSA. The entry cannot contain any copyrighted materials <br />unless relevant permissions have been obtained. <br />Entry & Release Forms <br />An official completed entry form and release form must accompany the entry and include signatures <br />from the student and the student's parent or guardian. Release forms must be provided for all students <br />submitting and entry or appearing in a video. All information must be printed. <br />
