Eligibility All students in grades eight through twelve in the Twin Cities area are eligible. Entries can be submitted individually or by a team of students. All students must mail the required entry and consent form upon entering the contest. Deadline Entries must be postmarked by October 14, 2010 and delivered to the following address: University of Minnesota Human Rights Center Attn: Natela Jordan Walter F. Mondale Hall 229 19"' Avenue South, N-120 Minneapolis, MN 55455 Judging In evaluating the entries, the judges will discuss the following questions: Did the videos follow basic contest guidelines? Did the videos address an important race, class, or place disparity? Did the videos use human rights language? Did the videos offer ideas for solutions to the disparity? Did the video communicate its message clearly and effectively? Did the video include original ideas both content and technology-wise? Did the videos avoid the use of offensive or discriminatory material? Awards (1) Most Innovative Youth Action Award; (2) Most Compelling and Clear Message Award; (3) Most Original and Creative Presentation Award; and (4) Best Quality Production Award. All winners will receive digital video cameras. The winning entry in each category will receive one digital camera award regardless of whether it has been submitted by a team or an individual contest participant. The Most Innovative Youth Action Award winner will also receive a cash prize of $100.00. Permissions All entries submitted become the property of the University of Minnesota Human Rights Center during and after the contest and may be used for promotional purposes. (*See the Consent and Video Release Form). Contest Submissions Contest entries must include a copy of the video entry on either CD or DVD. Please contact the Human Rights Center in advance if you would like to submit your entry via a-mail. Entries must be up to 2 minutes long. Entries must be accompanied by a completed contest entry form and signed consent form for all minors appearing in the PSA. The entry cannot contain any copyrighted materials unless relevant permissions have been obtained. Entry & Release Forms An official completed entry form and release form must accompany the entry and include signatures from the student and the student's parent or guardian. Release forms must be provided for all students submitting and entry or appearing in a video. All information must be printed.
