Project Update
The contractor has been working on restoration in
your neighborhood over the last six weeks.
Seed or sod?
Sod was not ready to be cut when restoration work
began in late March. The City agreed to allow the
contractor to seed all of the restoration areas. The
seed that has been in place longer is beginning to
grow and thrive. Areas seeded more recently are just
beginning to germinate. We will monitor the growth of
the seed to ensure adequate coverage over the
disturbed areas. Where needed, the contractor will
return for an additional application of seed to fill in
bare areas.
During the planning process, the City indicated to you
that disturbed areas would be restored with sod. We
realize that seed does not provide instant results, and
that it will take time for the seed to grow. We are
committed to restoring your yards to your satisfaction.
If you would still prefer that sod is placed in your
yards, please contact Dean Findell.
Turf IlAaintenance
The contractor is required to maintain sod for a period
of 30 days after installation. The contractor is
required to maintain seeding areas as needed to
achieve proper growth. You will receive another
notification when the contractor's maintenance period
has ended. Even during this period, if you notice the
sod/seed area is drying out, we would appreciate your
assistance in watering.
Once established, mow your lawn to encourage root
growth. Generally, remove no more than 1/3 of the
grass height with each mowing. (Example: cut grass
when it is 3'/" high and set your mower cutting to 2'h
or 3".)
Fencin
If a section of your fence was removed for access
purposes, it will be permanently reinstalled once the
seed and sod work is completed.
Other landscaping
We will work with each property owner to restore any
other landscaping features that may have been
disturbed during construction.
Please contact. Dean Findell, Project Coordinator
by Friday. f1Aay 14 if you have any questions or
concerns about the remaining work to be done in
your yards. This will allow us time to communicate
with the contractor so that work can be completed by
their June 1 deadline. Dean can be reached at 651-
792-7046 or dean.findell(a~ci.roseviile.mn.us.
Thank you!
We realize the inconvenience this construction project
caused to property owners, especially with disruptions
to water service, and construction crews working both
in your front and back yards. We sincerely appreciate
your patience throughout the course of this project.
We feel that this was a successful project that will
result in fewer inconveniences to you in the future as
our customer. The likelihood of water main breaks is
reduced now that the new water main pipe is in place,
and City crews will be able to access and maintain the
water main in the future without disturbing your
backyards.
Please let us know if you have any questions or
concerns about the project.
C~uestioras?
