June 1 1, 2010
Re: Oasis Pond Maintenance and Water Quality Enhancements
Dear Property Owner:
The Rice Creek Watershed District (RCWD) completed the Southwest Urban Lakes Study in
2009. The study identified opportunities for enhancing and improving the water quality in Oasis
Pond. This would be accomplished through either the modification of existing water control
structures or by constructing new water quality Best Management Practices (BMPs). The study
is available on the RCWD website: www.ricecreek.or~.
To complete the work, the RCWD obtained financial assistance from the Minnesota Pollution
Control Agency (MPCA's) Clean Water Partnership (CWP) program in late 2009, for the repair
and upgrade of the existing water control structure and water quality enhancement measures on
Oasis Pond.
The work for this project is concentrated on the south and east side of the pond, adjacent to
Terrace Drive and Lincoln Drive. RCWD has hired a testing company to perform soil borings
for the project. It is anticipated that they will be completing their field work the week of June
14. They will be accessing the pond via Terrace Drive and Lincoln Drive.
This is a RCWD Project, when the city has more information regarding the proposed design, we
will forward the information to you. If you have any questions, please contact me.
Sincerely,

Debra M.
