September 14, 2010 <br />Item 2 <br />Approve Minutes <br />1 Human Rights Commission <br />2 DRAFT -Meeting Minutes- DRAFT <br />3 August 18, 2010 <br />4 <br />5 Commissioners Present: Chair David Singleton; Commissioners Liz Jaeger, Peg Kennedy, <br />6 Thelma McKenzie, Marie Oftelie and Barb Yates. Commissioner <br />7 Gary Grefenberg arrived at 6:45 p.m. <br />8 <br />9 1. Call to Order: Chair David Singleton called meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. The Clerk <br />10 called the roll. <br />11 <br />12 2. Approve Minutes of June 18, 2010 <br />13 <br />14 Commissioner Barb Yates moved and Commissioner Liz Jaeger seconded approval of the <br />15 minutes. Motion prevailed unanimously. <br />16 <br />17 3. Staff/Committee Reports <br />18 <br />19 3a. Visions of Success Subcommittee <br />20 <br />21 Commissioner Liz Jaeger reported that the committee has set the community dialogue for <br />22 Monday, October 25 at the Roseville Skating Center. They are in the process of contacting <br />23 planners from the previous dialogues and hope to set an initial planning meeting soon. <br />24 <br />25 Commissioner Peg Kennedy moved and Commissioner Yates seconded motion to accept the <br />26 committee report. Motion prevailed unanimously. <br />27 <br />28 3b. Program Planners Subcommittee <br />29 <br />30 Commissioner Marie Oftelie reported that the committee is working on efforts to foster <br />31 community. They hope the October dialogue can be an incubator for civic engagement ideas. <br />32 They are considering holding a community workshop to find out what are issues of concern. <br />33 They are also considering establishing an advisory committee to get more involvement. <br />34 <br />35 Commissioner Jaeger moved and Commissioner Kennedy seconded motion to accept the <br />36 committee report. Motion prevailed unanimously. <br />37 <br />38 3c. Data Geeks Subcommittee <br />39 <br />40 Commissioner Kennedy said she received crime statistics from Police Chief Rick Mathwig and <br />41 No Child Left Behind (NCLB) statistics from the State of Minnesota, which had just been <br />42 released. They will continue to collect whatever statistics are available. <br />43 <br />44 Commissioner Yates said they are looking for data sets that specifically impact Roseville. <br />45 Commissioner Keruiedy explained Roseville's NCLB averages are higher than the state averages <br />
