features and the ability to make alterations to data when on-the-ground
changes occur. We propose that GIS technicians at the Roseville City Staff
perform natural community polygon digitizing as part of Roseville's cost-
share for a Metro Greenwdys/ConServtion Partners Grant. If the city
chooses not to complete polygon creation, it could also be completed
by Bonestroo staff.
An optional service that could be included in GI$ mapping is the creation
of MLCCS coverage for the entire city of Roseville. This land cover system
was developed by the MN DNR along with other partners and is
strongly recommended by the DNR to grant recipients. Although it will
have no real bearing on the quality of the Natural Resource
Management Plans we will create, including this activity in a Metro
Greenways Grant application could improve the project's appeal to the
review committee responsible for deciding which projects are funded.
MLCCS Cover Typing for all of City
Additionally, the creators of MLCCS envision that their cover types can
be directly fed into stormwater models to estimate things such as runoff,
and nutrient and sediment export. This may increase the activity's
importance in the eye of the city if an update to the city's
Surface/Stormwter Management Plan is expected in the next few years.
We estimate our cost for performing this task to be $3,000.
❑ Task 7- Management Plan and Report Creation
November 2001 — March 2002
Management Plans for Individual Parks
With the detailed information gathered in the field inventory portion of
the project, we will provide detailed management recommendations for
uplands, and wetlands and ponds. Included in the Management Plans
created for each of the five parks will be specific integrated
recommendations for activities such as:
► Problem species control, timing and methods
. Species and amounts of plant material recommended for
reintroduction
. Prescribed burning, seasonal timing and methods
. Stormwater/surfce water runoff management
► Appropriate recreation
. Public education/involvement
. Infrastructure management, such as roads in Lngton Lake Park
Our Management Plans will provide implementable recommendations
with associated timelines, as well as potential funding sources and
project partners.
Based on the watershed and lake response modeling completed under
Task 5, as well as field data collected, opportunities to reduce watershed
pollutant loadings will be identified for L.angton and Bennett Lakes and
an estimate of their projected impact on lake water quality will be done.
Load reduction alternatives would then be listed based on cost-
effectiveness. The alternatives will be analyzed in enough detail to
establish preliminary feasibility and rough costs, with the idea that
'!
