The recommendation is to reject the irrigation system and to redesign and rebid this item. We are also recommending the rejection of the masonry and pre-cast stone bids because there was only one bidder and the bids were over budget. These items will be combined and new quotes requested for these items. Additionally separate bids (quotations) are being planned for the play equipment, aglime and minor electrical work. We are also recommending the rejection of alternates for the brick structure and arbor near the play equipment site and the ornamental fencing neat the play site because they are outside the budget parameters. The construction of the park is scheduled to begin May 1. POLICY OBJECTIVE The proposal to accept bids for the first phase construction of Lexington Park is consistent with the followingpolicies: ♦ Parks and Recreation Commission Recommendations ♦ Parks and Recreation Systems Plan ♦ Lexington Park Master Plan ♦ Parks and Recreation Infrastructure Committee Recommendations ♦ Council Authorizations ♦ State bidding statutes FINANCIAL IMPLICATION This project total is $294,025 and is within the total project budget of $562,000 for all items planned. The City monies for the proposed development would be taken from the Parks and Recreation Park Improvement Fund and would be combined with the $50,000 grant from Ramsey County for soccer fields and approximately $12,000 from the Cornerstone Grant. 3
