REQUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: 07/23/01 <br />Item No: C-6 <br />Approval: Manager Approved: Agenda Section: <br />► i� �i- . �('�� CONSENT <br />Item Descripdon: City initiated request�r a 60-day plan review extension regarding the <br />request by Fred & Laurie Boucher regarding the need for an additional <br />variance to allow construction of a 1,008 square foot detached accessory <br />building at 1166 Laurie Road (PF3325). <br />1.0 REQUESTED ACTION <br />1.1 The Community Development Department is seeking an e�tension to the 60-day plan <br />review time line to further consider an additional variance necessary to allow the <br />construction of a 24 foot by 42 foot detached accessory building. <br />2.0 BACKGROUND <br />2.1 On July 11,200 1, the Roseville Planning Commission considered a request by Fred & <br />Laurie Boucher for a variance from Section 1004.0 1 A3 (Detached Accessory Building <br />Limit) and a conditional use permit, to allow the construction of a 1,008 square foot <br />accessory building in the rear yard of the Boucher parcel. <br />2.2 At the Planning Commission meeting staff indicated that a field verification was <br />necessary to determine whether the proposed accessory building was larger than the <br />existing principal structure (house) footprint. On Monday, July 16, 2001, the Community <br />Development Staff determined, through a site inspection, that the house footprint was 26 <br />feet by 30 feet or 832 square feet, thus requiring the need for an additional variance from <br />Section 1004.0 1 AS (Overall Area) of the Roseville City Code. <br />2.3 The Community Development Staff has determined that the additional variance requires <br />notification to properiy owners 350 feet from the Boucher parcel, a public hearing, and <br />consideration before the Planning Commission. The hearing is scheduled for the August <br />8,200 1 regularly schedule Planning Commission meeting. <br />3.0 STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br />3.1 In order to properly process the additional variance, the Community Development <br />Department is requesting a 60-day plan review e�tension. The e�tension will allow the <br />land use application to be heard and a recommendation made by the Planning <br />Commission on August 8, 2001 and forwarded to the City Council for consideration on <br />August 27, 2001. <br />PF3329 RCA (072301) — Page I of 2 <br />
