Financial Implications <br />The cost to secure a replacement for 11 voting machines is estimated to be $69,949. The replacement funds <br />have been accumulated during the equipments' life, so funding is available. <br />Ramsey County offers two options to purchase voting equipment from the County: <br />l. One lump payment in August 2002; or <br />2. Five annual payments at 4% interest. <br />Staff Recommendation <br />As Ramsey County will act on the Joint Powers Agreement For Replacement Elections Equipment on August <br />28 and make no adjustments from the August 14 meeting, staff recommends that the City Council approve the <br />purchase of new voting machines "in form" beginning in this fa11's (2001) election and pay one lump payment <br />in August 2002. <br />Council Action Requested <br />Motion to approve a resolution joining Ramsey County and the other Ramsey communities in a joint purchase <br />of replacement voting machines, with funding from the equipment replacement fund in the amount not to <br />exceed $70,000. <br />12001 ElectionslltCAs�rcaform-election.doc <br />
