Department Approval <br />� <br />Request for Council Action <br />Manager Approval <br />iG�Z�C.Q ��`�P� <br />Date: August 27, 2001 <br />Item Number: J-2 <br />Agenda Section <br />Ordinances and Resolutions <br />Item Description: Setting the Date of November 6, 2001 for Voting on the Charter as Proposed by the <br />Roseville Charter Commission <br />Back�round <br />A nine-member Charter Commission has drafted a proposed charter for Roseville. In compliance with State <br />Statutes, the Commission asks that the proposed Charter be put forth to the voters of Roseville. The City of <br />Roseville will conduct a City General Election on Tuesday, November 6, 2001. The City must notify the <br />county auditor of this action that places the proposed question on the ballot at least 49 days prior to the <br />municipal election. <br />Policv Implications <br />As specified in MN Statute 410.10 the ballot shall bear the printed words "Shall the proposed new charter be <br />adopted? Yes No " <br />F inanci a1 Imnlications_ <br />The City will conduct a City General Election. No cost will be incurred with additional wording on the ballot. <br />Roseville will publish Charter language in the official City newspaper at an approximate cost of $2,500. <br />Council Action Requested <br />Motion to approve a resolution to accept the Charter Commission proposed ballot question to be voted on at the <br />November 6, 2001 City General Election.
