BACKCROl1Nl� The Metropolitan Regional Arts Council has granted The City of Roseville a grant for $6,000 to increase participation in the arts by Roseville citizens, particularly those groups that have not been involved previously. The grant application is attached. The proposal is to develop a community arts festival involving Roseville residents through the cooperation of the Roseville Parks and Recreation Commission, the Roseville Human Rights Commission, the Roseville Historical Society, the Roseville Area Arts Council and the ROS2tOW11 Playhouse Community Theater. It is anticipated that the festival will be held in late spring of 2002. PnIJC:Y OB.IEC�TIVE The attached proposal is consistent with the policy of leveraging other public and private resources to obtain funding to offset the costs of providing programs, services and facilities for Roseville residents. It is also consistent with our efforts to partner with other agencies. FINANCIAI IMPI �TIONS The City must provide matching funds of $6,000 if the grant were accepted. Staff has identified available support for the City's matching funds. , 'A�F RFC:�MMENDATION Based on the recommendation of the City of Roseville Parks and Recreation Commission numerous community groups and the Parks and Recreation System Plan, staff recommends that the City accept a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council for $6,000 to develop a community arts festival featuring Roseville residents. CnUNCII ACTION REOI IESTED Motion authorizing the acceptance of a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council for $6,000 to develop a community arts festival featuring Roseville residents with matching funds of $6,000 to be taken from the donations account.
