Mobile Home Park Shelter Capacities 09/24/O1
Apple Valley:
For mobile home parks and storm shelters....here are the standards
for size that we used on the Apple Valley storm shelter. There were 359 units in the
development. We used an average of 2.5 people per unit, 4 s.f. per person, and (an
assumption o 80% park occupancy at the time of storm. For example, using these
numbers we arrived at 7 18 people to use the shelter, and 2,872 s.f. of shelter for the
development.
I believe the 4 s.% was a national standard (FEMA Possibly?). The % in park at time of
storm number was left up to us to decide. We felt safe with between 70 and 80% and I
believe used the most conservative number to be safe.
Blaine: 27 s.f. per unit or 810 s.f. per each 30 units.
Shoreview: 9.0 s.f. per unit
Maplewood: 3 s.f. per person with space for 80% of occupants (used in Apartments as
well)
Q:comdev/planning fiels/pf3225/MHCapacities
