Host: A fire department employee who is responsible and accountable far the behavior <br />of their family member or gues� <br />Official Fire Department Business: Fire department related meetings, training, and <br />special events that are pre-approved by a chief officer of the fire department. <br />Public Access Facility: Fire Administration shall be the only fire department facility that <br />is open to public access on a regular basis unless there is an approved special event or <br />meeting at the station open to the public. <br />3. RESPONSIBILITY: It shall be the responsibility of every employee of the fire <br />department to be knowledgeable of this standard and to enforce this standard and to <br />report violations of this standard to a chief officer. <br />4. STATION SECURITY PROCEDURES <br />a. Primary access (with key or combination) to fire department properiy shall be <br />restricted to active firefighters, police officers, other city employees with official <br />business in a fire station and pre-approved maintenance/delivery personnel. <br />Family members, guests, civilians, may be granted access by an active firefighter <br />or civilian fLTe department employee who is present at the time of the visitation. <br />b. Family members shall be permitted unlimited visitations. Problems that arise <br />shall be addressed between the members who are present. Non-family member <br />visitations for purposes other than to conduct official city business, shall not <br />exceed 30 minutes. <br />c. Fire prevention tours and activities, scheduled or unscheduled, shall be considered <br />official business. The host shall be responsible for these guests. <br />d. Access combinations to all fire department doors shall be considered confidential <br />and restricted to active firefighters, civilian fire department employees and police <br />officers. Non-employees who require access (i.e. maintenance workers) may be <br />supervised by a tire department employee or they may be temporarily assigned a <br />key or combination for access. <br />e. Firefighters need to ensure that their vehicles, when parked in "Fire Department <br />Only" parking areas are properly identified with fire department license plates <br />and/or a fire department issued window decal. <br />f. Apparatus/personnel departing and leaving the station unstaffed shall ensure all <br />doors and windows are closed and locked, <br />g. When a host leaves the station, the guest must also leave the station. Immediate <br />family members shall be permitted to remain at the stations, without their host <br />present, while the firefighters are out of the station an emergency call. <br />h. While personnel are in the fire stations, no overhead door or service door shall be <br />left open or unlocked unless the door is attended. <br />i. Exceptions to these rules must be approved by a chief officer. <br />
