A. Schifsky and Sons ofNorth St. Paul, Minnesota <br />on April 10, 2000. The pathway was constructed during the summer of 2000 with landscaping <br />installed in 200 1. Final punch list items ha�e been completed, and the contractor has requested <br />final payment. <br />Policy objectives: City policy requires that the following items be completed to finalize a <br />construction contract: <br />. Certification from the City Engineer verifying that a11 of the work has been completed in <br />accordance with plans and specifications. <br />. A resolution by the City Council accepting the contract and beginning the one-year warranty. <br />Financial implications: The Dale StreetlRoselawn Avenue Pathway is the highest priority <br />pathway project identified in the City's Master Pathway Plan adopted in 1997. This project <br />was awarded a federal transportation grant that covers 80% of construction costs. The cost of <br />this contract has been financed as outlined in the feasibility report approved by the City Council <br />on July 26, 1999. Please see attached financing summary for details. <br />The final contract amount, $1, 823, 819.3 8 is $192, 579.04 greater than the awarded amount of <br />$1,631,240.34. This represents an increase in contract of approximately 11.8%. 5.8% of this is <br />due to additional work for this contract, and 6% is from quantity overruns. <br />During pathway construction, we worked with properiy owners, trying to address their concerns. <br />During the course of the project we addressed any additional drainage concerns, curb cuts, tree <br />trimming sidewalk replacement, driveway slopes, sod installation, and wa11 e�tensions that were <br />brought to light during the construction phase of the proj ect. Some of these concerns were <br />already included in the plans, but needed additional quantities, or we worked with the properiy <br />owner on a different solution. <br />Many of the overruns were for unforeseen e�tensions of quantities. Buried construction debris <br />
