REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: February 25, 200] <br />Item No: A-1 <br />Manager Approved: Agenda Section: <br />�I�I �n'D %�2°.�'�� CONSENT <br />ItettiDescription: Request for Approval of a Burn Permit to burn wild growth at <br />Concordia 1�'Ieadows Atrium TOwnhome Association, 506 Lovell Avenue <br />1.0 Requested Action <br />11 Concordia Meadows Atrium Townhome Association is requesting City Council approval of <br />a burn permit to burn wild growth around their storm water retention pond at 506 Lovell <br />Avenue. <br />2.0 Background <br />2.1 Concordia Meadows Atrium Townhome Association is requesting a burn permit to burn the <br />wild growth on the perimeter of and adjacent to the storm water retention pond located at the <br />site. This area has not been designated as a Prairie Grass restoration area nor does the <br />Association term it as one. <br />2.2 In 1997, 1999, 2000 and 200 1 the Townhome Association requested and were issued burn <br />permits for this site. In the past, Applied Ecology, who specializes in conducting burns, <br />were contracted to conduct the burn. It is the Association's intent to retain the services of <br />Applied Ecology for the burn again this year. Further, it is the Association's intent to notify <br />the Roseville Fire Department in advance of the date of this year's burn. <br />2.3 Due to the unpredictable nature of the spring weather, the Association would like the permit <br />for a time period of one month, commencing on April 1, 2002 and effective through April <br />30, 2002. As indicated in their letter, it is their intent to burn around April 5�', weather <br />permitting. <br />3.0 Staff Recommendation <br />3.1 It is the recommendation of the staff that the City Council authorize the Fire Marshal to issue <br />a burn permit to the Concordia Meadows Atrium Townhome Association. The permit would <br />be for the period of April 1, 2002 through April 30, 2002.
