REQUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL ACTION <br />DATE: 2/25/02 <br />ITEM N0: A-2 <br />Approval: ManagerApproval: Agenda Section; <br />2 `�1.Ai) . � n�.,, Consent <br />Item Description: Support for Ramsey County FY2002 Community Development <br />Block Grant � HOME funds Applications <br />1.0 Requested Action <br />1.1 City staff is requesting support for submission of grant applications under the Ramsey <br />County Community Development Block Grant and Home Investment Partnership Act <br />Program for Fiscal Year 2002 which covers July 1, 2002 — June 30, 2003. <br />2.0 Back�round <br />2.1 Staff has identified four possible projects that may need additional funding in 2002 -03 fiscal <br />year to enable the construction of affordable housing. The projects include a mix of housing <br />at the city owned Arona site, redevelopment of the Hamline Shopping Center, <br />redevelopment of the Jubilee Foods site and new housing attached to an existing apartment <br />complex on Dione Street. <br />2.2 All of these "inf'ill" housing projects are in thepr p�osal stage and have not been approved. <br />It is anticipated that the proposals will be revie�ithin the Ramsey County funding cycle <br />between July 1, 2002 and June 30, 2003. Projects need to be identified now to be considered <br />for funding during those dates. <br />3.0 Staff Recommendation <br />3.1 Staff recommends approval of the attached resolution authorizing applications for future <br />projects using Ramsey County Community Development Block Grant and Home Investment <br />Partnership Act Program funds for housing and redevelopment projects located at Arona, <br />Hamline Shopping Center, Jubilee Foods and Dione Street as identified on the attached map. <br />4.0 Su��ested Council Action <br />4.1 By resolution, authorize applications for Ramsey County Community Development Block <br />Grant and Home Investment Partnership Funds for Ramsey County FY2002 (July 1, 2002 — <br />June 3 0, 2003. <br />PYepared by: Cathy Bemlett, 490-2241 <br />Attachment: Site Map, draft resolution Q:\Grauts\CDBG Home App12002 RCf�.dOC <br />RCA — Ramsey County CDBG/HOME Application Authorization 2002 - Page 1 of 1 <br />
