REQUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL DISCUSSIONIACTIDN <br />DATE: 3/11/2002 <br />ITEM NO: <br />Department Approval: Mana er Approval: Agenda Section: <br />Work Session Re orts <br />em escription: Annual Presentation & Approval of the Roseville Housing <br />Improvement Plan <br />1.0 Request for Council Action. <br />Approve, by motion, the Roseville Housing Improvement Plan for 2002, which outlines guiding <br />principles, housing policies, housing programs and the housing fund budget for 2002. The Housing <br />Plan is consistent with Vista 2000 goals and policies, the City's Comprehensive Plan, and the <br />Livable Communities Action Plan. The Housing Plan is reviewed and revised by the City Council <br />annually and becomes part of the annual Comprehensive Plan update within the Implementation <br />Strategies and Housing Sections. <br />2.0 Background. <br />City Council has annually reviewed and approved the Housing Plan to ensure that the programs are <br />meeting the needs of the community. Members of the Community Development Staff, the Housing <br />Resource Center, Ramsey County and Metropolitan Council will provide a summary of the housing <br />programs a�ailable in the City of Roseville and new opportunities and goals for 2002. <br />3.0 Programs for 2002: <br />City staff has made minor revisions to the Roseville Housing Plan for 2002. These revisions are <br />underlined in the attached amended Housing Plan for 2002. <br />4.0 2001 Housing Program Summary (Refer to 2001 Housing Annual Report) <br />. Roseville spent $301,040 on housing in 2001 and $735,406 was provided by Ramsey County and <br />State programs to Roseville residents for a total of $1,036,446 in assistance. <br />. $244,417 was provided in City low interest loans to 30 Roseville residents <br />. $64,404 in rebates from state funds was specifically issued to 5 1 Roseville residents <br />� $100,000 in State program funds were issued to 12 Roseville residents <br />. $571,000 in County program funds were provided to 17 Roseville residents <br />.
