0 <br />� VI. STORM SEWER IMPROVEMENTS <br />1. Definitions <br />d) Storm Sewer Imorovement District <br />The City Council may, at its discretion, construct and finance <br />storm sewer improvements by utilizing a storm sewer tax district <br />pursuant to Minnesota Statute 444.16 through 444.21. These <br />statutes are reproduced in the Appendix. <br />b) Storm Sewer Trunk Facilities <br />1. Ponds <br />A basin or wetland constructed or naturally located within a <br />permanent easement for the purpose of containing storm <br />runoff. May be either a retention (Permanent) pond, <br />detention (temporary) pond, or a combination of both. Arden <br />"� Hills is within the Rice Creek Watershed District. which may <br />require additional improvements to control flow discharge <br />from the ponds. The Rice Creek Watershed District has a ` <br />formal permitting process governing pond construction. <br />2. Pipe Network <br />A network of pipes ranging in size generally from 30 inches <br />through 72 inches. The trunk pipe networks are designed to <br />collect storm runoff from an area generally larger than 40 <br />� <br />acres. <br />3. Channels <br />An open ditch conveyance network constructed within permanent <br />easements for the purposes of transporting storm runoff. <br />24 <br />
