Request for Council Action
Date: June 3, 2002
Item Number:Item: WS `II. C.
Department Approval Manager Aproval . Agenda Sectian
Item Description: Discussion on a resident newsletter
Backround
The City of Roseville has distributed a resident newsletter since 1969. The newsletter evolved over the years
from a sporadic four page 8%Z by 11 inch newsletter to the regularly published six page 11 by 17 inch
broadsheet.
At the May 20, 2002 City Council meeting the Council voted to eliminate the Wrap from the budget for the rest
of the year.
Policy Implicahons
The Wrap was one of the main venues for communicating with residents. It included recycling (which 74% of
residents said they rely on to get recycling information), road repairs, parks activities, elections and code
enforcement information; information about activities of the City Council and Commissions; community events
and other information of interest to Roseville residents, businesses and visitors. The City is required by law to
make some of the information (such as the water quality report) aailable to a11 residents. Some information
(polling places and precinct changes, recycling dates) is vitally important for residents to receive. City funds
will be used to design, print and mail this information.
Council Action Requested
Council direction on a resident newsletter.
  nrr
.s f
