REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />DATE: 06/03/02 <br />ITEM NO.: VIII• B• <br />Approval: 1�'Ianager Reviewed: Agenda Section: <br />�� Consent <br />It&Description: Award of bid for 2002 PMP Contract B: Neighborhoods 16, 24 and 25 <br />Background: The 2002 Pavement Management Program consists mainly of Mill and Overlay projects. <br />We have sent out information to all abutting property owners and held a public information meeting <br />April 9. On April 29, the City Council rejected bids for this project due to inconsistencies between the <br />contract documents and the bids submitted. This project was rebid during the month of May. 2002 <br />Contract B: Re-bid was opened on Wednesday, May 22, 2002. Based on the bids received, staff <br />recommends awarding the following work: <br />2002 Contract B- Re-Bid <br />Neighborhood 16: Lydia Ave, Chatsworth St to Cul-de-sac <br />Lydia Drive, Lydia Ave to Chatsworth St <br />Neighborhood 24: Walnut St, County Road C to Rose Place <br />N Hwy 36 Service Drive, St Croix St to Long Lake Road <br />Rosegate, N Hwy 36 Service Drive to Cleveland Ave <br />Neighborhood 25: Oakcrest Ave, Prior Ave to Fair-view Ave <br />Policy objectives: Based on past practice, the City Council has awarded the contract to the lowest <br />responsible bidder. In the case of 2002 Contract B, the lowest bidder is T.A. Schifsky & Sons, Inc., ofNorth <br />St. Paul, Minnesota. <br />Financial implications: We received four bids for 2002 Contract B: Re-Bid. The low bid submitted by <br />T.A. Schifsky & Sons, Inc., is $616,487.09. This is 4.8% lower than the low bid, $647,716.46, that the <br />Council rejected from the April bid solicitation. Also, it is 5% lower than the revised Engineer's <br />estimate of $650,824.50. The following is a list of the bids received: <br />BIDDER AMOUNT <br />T. A.
