Teamster negotiations for the 2002 contractwill continue. As soon as these discussions
conclude, staff will forward modifications, if any, to the City Council for action.
Policv Implications:
Annually, the City budgets for anticipated wage and benefit adj ustments for a11
employees. The adjustments are based on the best information known or anticipated
from the metro labor market and labor settlements.
The City's compensationpolicy objectives include:
Internal Equity — maintaining a compensation and benefit package that is as
consistent as possible between the City's three union and two non-union groups.
Eernal Equity- maintaining a compensation and benefit package that is
competitivewith outside organizations.
Focusing on these obj ectives reinforces the City's ability to pay a wage based upon the
duties performed. The obj ectives also support positive working relationships with
employees and support employeemorale.
Financial Imlications
None, outside of the budgeted wage increases.
Council Action Reauested
Motion to approve the 2002 Law Enforcement Labor Services Partial Contract Terms as
follows:
1. Wages will increase 3.75 percent.
2. The Longevity Pay schedule will increase 3.75 percent.
3. The Educational Incentive Pay will increase 3.75 percent.
4. The Uniform Allowance Pay will increase 3.75 percent.
5. SpecialistPay will adjustto $190per month.
