��� <br />�� <br />002 Referendum <br />On Election Day, Roseville citizens will vote on a referendum on the sale of $9 million in bonds to <br />bring public safety and public works facilities in Roseville up to state and federal standards and to <br />cost-effectively and efficiently meet future needs. This flyer provides details about the funding re- <br />quest so that you can make an informed decision when you go to the polls on November 5. <br />Police <br />What is the need: <br />� Private areas for investigators to hold confidential tele- <br />phone conversations or interviews with victims and <br />witnesses (see photo at right). <br />� Increase the number of Sally Ports to four allows police <br />officers to safely transport criminals to locked holding <br />cells. It reduces flight risk and helps ensure the safety <br />of police and the public. <br />�rlt <br />� Federal law mandates thatjuveniles be kept separate Currently victims and witnesses are <br />from adult criminals and men be kept separate from interviewed inpublic areas where <br />women. Currently police officers must shuffle people in ������ �'�� ������� �'�� ���x�� <br />custody to accommodate the others who are arrested. ���� <br />� Detention area directly accessible from the Sally Ports would help police to keep criminals <br />separate from victims and witnesses. <br />� Space for officers to access latest technological advances in crime mapping that can track up to <br />the minute information on various crimes. <br />� Record storage area that would ensure confi- <br />dentiality and would allow for multi-year stor- <br />age. Staff would be able to retrieve police <br />reports more quickly. <br />�f Add a night entrance to Police Department to <br />improve access and provide safety for someone <br />waiting for the police. <br />��� <br />November 5 <br />The Cost <br />If the referendum is successful, the City will <br />begin remodeling in spring 2003.
