City Attorney Interview Questions <br />1. Please identify the other cities whom you represent, who in your <br />firm represents those cities, and what types of legal services do you <br />provide your other municipal clients. <br />2. If you were appointed the Roseville City Attorney, how would the <br />firm make sure that the specific attorneys dedicated to the that <br />function would have sufficient time to meet Roseville's needs? <br />3. Please describe your legal approach toward Data Practices Act <br />questions. What is your standard legal analysis of these <br />questions? <br />4. Please describe your familiarity with Collective Bargaining <br />agreements. What cities have you represented in Collective <br />Bargaining proceedings and what has your role been? <br />5. Please describe your involvement in Public Employee Disciplinary <br />matters. How much of your municipal legal practice involves legal <br />advice and representation on disciplinary matters? <br />6. Please describe your involvement in municipal litigation matters. <br />Do the persons you propose to serve as City Attorney also do <br />municipal litigation, or do other members of your firm specialize <br />in litigation? What kinds of municipal litigation does your firm <br />handle? -- Police excessive force cases? Zoning disputes? <br />Condemnations? <br />7. Describe a legal issue involving a municipal parks and recreation <br />department and how you analyzed and resolved that legal issue. <br />8. What do you regard as the three most difficult legal issues facing <br />municipal governments, and why? <br />9. Explain how you have handled or would handle a situation where <br />you are asked at a public council meeting to provide legal advice <br />about a particular city issue, you provide that legal advice, and <br />then a Councilmember makes a motion that is directly contrary to <br />your legal advice. <br />
