May 29, 2002 Neal Beets Roseville City Manager City of Roseville 2660 Civic Center Drive Roseville, NIN 55 113 Dear Neal Beets, We are residents of Roseville who have just been informed of a proposal iTO111 the DOT to close CR B at Hwy 280. We live right off CR B and would be greatly affected by this change. We want you to l�ow we are AGAINST this proposal. We want tlie illtel'SeCt10t1 of CR B and Hwy 280 to remain open. We have several reasons for wanting the intersection of CR B and Hwy 280 to remain open. The major reason to keep it open is that this intersection is a major transportation route for us. We use the CR B and Hwy 280 intersection a minimum of 4 times a day. We would be very inconvenienced every day by it's closure. Another important reason why we want the CR B and Hwy 280 intersection to remain open is that we do not want only one outlet for our neighborhood. By closing this intersection, every road past Cleveland on CR B would be a dead end. This is a safety COI1Ce111 for us - we do not want only one exit out of our neighborhood. It also takes away the option of taking a different route when there is an accident or traffic congestion. MN DOT has based this proposal on improving the safety of Hwy 280. We believe they are closing our road simply to get the federal money. Closing CR B at Hwy 280 will not make Hwy 280 any safer, there will still be a stop light there for west bound traffic. Also by closing CR B at Hwy 280, it will direct more traffic to the Cleveland and CR B intersection which is known for not being a safe intersection. We are very upset about this proposal to close an intersection that we use every day. County Road B is a county road, you just can't make it a dead end. This would be a major change to our community and for all the people who use CR B and Hwy 280 every day. We want you to vote �gainst the proposal to close CR B at Hwy 280.
