Human Rights Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />November 9, 2010 <br />Commissioners Present: Chair David Singleton; Commissioners Liz Jaeger, Seth, <br />Josephson, Thelma McKenzie Marie Oftelie and Barb Yates <br />Commissioners Absent: Commissioners Gary Grefenberg and Peg Kennedy <br />1. Call to Order: Chair David Singleton called meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. The Clerk <br />called the roll. <br />2. Approve Minutes of September 14, 2010 <br />Commissioner Liz Jaeger moved and Commissioner Thelma McKenzie seconded approval of the <br />minutes. Motion prevailed unanimously. <br />3. Swearing in Youth Commissioner <br />Chair David Singleton administered the oath for Youth Commissioner Seth Josephson. <br />Commissioner Josephson introduced himself He is a senior at Hill Murray High School. He <br />became interested in serving on the Commission after speaking with Commission Jaeger. <br />Commissioner McKenzie distributed information about Beatriz Menanteau, a former youth <br />commissioner who is now working as an attorney. <br />4. Staff /Committee Reports <br />4a. Visions of Success Subcommittee <br />Commissioner Jaeger reviewed the October 25 Community Forum. We had a good turnout (56 <br />people) and a good discussion. Several topics of discussion were raised. A lot of discussion <br />centered on diversity and open communications and accessibility issues. Commissioners thought <br />discussing accessibility issues could be a possible civic engagement opportunity. <br />Carolyn Curti noted the packet information that included feedback from participants. She also <br />distributed the dialogue summary provided by Cynthia Singleton. <br />Chair Singleton asked Curti to notify the Commission of the Planning Committee meeting with <br />Consultant Victoria Amaris. <br />Chair Singleton said that he spoke with Mario Hernandez, Department of Human Rights, about <br />what kinds of complaints have been made in Roseville. He will provide a report at the December <br />meeting. <br />4b. Program Planners Subcommittee <br />
