Roseville Human Rights Commission <br />Meeting Minutes August 14, 2007 <br />Page 6 of 6 <br />Additional goals included <br />Expand opportunities to work with Roseville area schools; foster youth development and <br />Leaders in Training; provide parental support for at -risk juveniles with early intervention <br />through a professional moderator. <br />Further discussion included honoring the good will of groups within the community, sponsoring <br />"Human Rights Heroes" by providing citizen awards for outstanding HR efforts, identifying <br />communication and media sources to target different age groups in the community, affordable <br />housing, civility and individual rights, rental property registration and tension undercurrents with <br />neighborhood impacts and property values and code enforcement issues, processes and potential <br />rental registration ordinance language. <br />Commissioner Bosch volunteered to bring a recent New York Times magazine article for all <br />commissioners to read, discussing what constitutes a family. <br />Another goal discussed was inter -group participation and how to gain diverse representation <br />on city advisory commissions; promoting ethnic celebrations and interconnectivity within the <br />community and how the HRC could facilitate that connection. <br />Commissioners were encouraged to provide additional comments to city staff (Carolyn Curti or <br />City Manager Malinen). <br />Adjournment <br />Commissioner Venters moved and Commissioner Bosch seconded adjournment of the meeting at <br />8:25 p.m. <br />Next meeting scheduled for September 11, 2007 at 8:01 p.m. <br />
