due to the poor drainage of existing (inaudible) to serve the
area during the heavy rainfalls. It further aids the situation
by not requiring in the future additional work under 35W in
increasing the flow of this storm run off northerly. We also
hope that this would aid in the traffic situation along Cleve-
land Avenue by being able to pick up some of the low points.

You can see we have several catch basins established along
Cleveland which will hopefully aid the private property as well
as the roadways as it goes toward the outlet, and it also serves
to dovetail with the recently initiated study for Langdon Lake
which the city authoxized several months ago.

It is proposed as part of this development to do the work
yet this year to the greatest degree possible and I might com-
ment that there's a couple little problems with this project.
One, most of the drainage pipe has to run right down Cleveland.
Avenue and those of you that live along Cleveland know it's
just like spaghetti on both sides of the road. There are util-
ity lines of all sorts - sanitary sewer, water, gas, telephone,
you name it and they're out there, up and down both sides of the
road. That means the only place to put the pipe is right down
the middle of the road. This caused us a bit of a problem be-
cause We hated to see the roadway torn up, but we thought that
was the only place to go and most of you here also, I am quite
su~e, are concerned what would happen on the next project which
is the Cleveland paving.

It's our proposal that if this is done, Cleveland Avenue
would be paved. The two do not have to go together, but there's
approximately $40,000 of street work at just restoring the
street back to its original condition that would be avoided if
the street were done at the same time. We will take that when
the next project is considered. That concludes this section.

MAYOR DEMOS: Mr. Popovich, would you care to give your
summary.

MR. POPOVICH: Mayor and members of the Council, as you
know, this improvement is interrelated with others, but as to
this improvement alone - the total.estimated cost is $332,657.
Since this is a storm sewer and if we stayed with the old storm
sewer assessments of $250 per lot on residential; $500 for an

3
