COUNCILMAN GRAUEL: Mr. Thompson, are you experiencing this problem now with trucks? MR. THOMPSON: Yes, we are. It's usually the double bot- toms come by at 10:00 or ll:OO at night and by the time I get out to get a license number they've disappeared and I can't catch them. I don't know what horsepower they are but they're coming down the road and I know it's worse north, and they're accelerating and there is no muffler. COUNCILMAN GRAUEL: Is there some way we can regulate that truck traffic. MR. BELL: I don't think double bottoms are allowed on there. COUNCILMAN GRAUEL: But your truck traffic - your semi traffic, are they allowed? MR. BELL: We do not have power to designate truck routes like St. Paul does. COUNCILMAN GRAUEL: You're relatively close to the indus- trial area but I know we had the same fears in the widening of County Road C. It I S a straight shot fr.om "c" and Snelling to 35E. We have never experienced any problem there. One way, of course, you eliminate the problem because you put up enough stop signs and that aiscourages them to drive on the street. MR. THOMPSON: I don't understand what you said about County Road C. COUNCILMAN GRAUEL: "c" was a narrow street - about 24 feet - and that was widened to 52 feet which includes curb and gutter sections on either side of the street and that's a di- rect route from your industrial area over to 35E and some of the people were concerned at the time this street was put in for fear that the semis were going to move along "c" and - like up from our industrial area on the west side of the community - down "c" ~o 35E once that was completed through Little Canada. That never materialized. However, where you people are living is much closer to the industrial area and I'm not familiar with the amount of truck traffic going north on C-2 and getting up 7
