MR. DAVIS: This is the f iJ::-st I heard about any pet i tion
in for thato

HAYOR DENOS ~ It vJ2S done by peti'i:ion.

vm. DAVIS: He never had no~:!.C'e.

~~YOR DEMOS~ The Council did. When the Council receives v
petition with 35% of the property owners in any given area, then
they must order the study and hold a hearing. Are you aware if
you look at that lower map" that the services wi.ll be cut across the
street ut those six points to those lots. In other words. there
w~ll be some tear-up of that street to provide the south side with
sanitary sewer and water.

MR. DAVIS: As far as I know now. the sewer goes right down
through the middle of Shryer Avenue. I was there when it was put
in and it went down through the middle.

i',lAYOR DEMO:3: Do you see what I mez:n .~ the connections will
have to be cut across to the south. '?hey aren't going to move the
sewer and it's all on the other side or the road. It's the green
cmd red lines on the map. II'hose connections ..liould be cut across.

HR. DAVIS~ That part doesn't make any difference to me if
they're going to have to tear up the street. but I'm satisfied the
lvclY it is now as long as hie tried to get it in years agoc and as
far as I'm concerned I'm not in a position to have any added ex-
pense. That's my point. If I hadn't tried to get it done years
ago I probably would have 2 different idea. Now, the people on the
other side - the property is sold. No~'; they're in favor 0 Hhoever
was here - they fought it so there would be no ~roperty taken off
of them to widen the road or anything else, but now the property
is sold.

MAYOR DIDMOS: Is there anyone else?

!coIF. SAr!1 CAVE ~ I I ve ?'lu:'cha sed the lots 1072 through 1084
which is Lots 1 through 5 on the other side. I'm, of course, in
favor of improvements to the area. I think 'that as the Lots stand
now I'd probably build homes on there in the area of $42.000 each
and they'd have a 10\'ier va lue f but if ~)e had nice clean curb and
gutter and street, then I think the houses would be more va J.uable
ones. I think alsoc those people on the other side of the street
including Hr. Davis, \1i'ould" if they sold their houses, not that
they intend to, would, it's my experience as a real estate broker
and salesman, that curbs would add more to the value of their

3
