MR. HIGHUM: The seven ton - some of these things I
know the answers to, but I want to get the answers from you.
The seven ton street has been hinted at that it's not adequate
for a residential street.

MR. HONCHELL: Seven ton is a term to indicate the
loading that is allowable per axle on a vehicle. That means
if you have a two axle vehicle (inaudible) vehicles that are
seven times greater (inaudible) particularly on a residential
street where the truck traffic is relatively low. I would say
that probably the weight problem - the weight carrying cap-
ability is one of the last things that would cause the street
to decay. More than likely it would be weathering and oxydation
of the oil in the asphalt.

MR. HIGHUM: So the garbage truck and school busses will
not cause us a problem.

MR. HONCHELL: This has been (inaud~ble).

MR. HIGHUM: It's also been stated - why are we putting
down blacktop when within the next ten years the village
contemplates concrete.

MR. HONCHELL: It has not been my recommendation that we
go to concrete streets - all other things being equal to price -
concrete has meen shown in the residential cities to be more
(inaudible) and more expensive in maintenance. Nearly all
of the communities have been switching away from concrete
because of maintenance.

MR. HIGHUM: What type curb - a 90 degrees or 45 degree
angle?

MR. HONCHELL: It would be a 6-18 which you would define
as a straight 90 degree curb rather than a lay-back, and
what we follow normally is that where we know that the road
is to be (inaudible) we go with the straight or 90 degree
burb. Whwere we have no idea (inaudible) open field (in-
audible) where the driveways will be, rather than tear out
all the curb and gutter when a house goes in, we use the lay-
back curb.

5
