at least two of these that I see just real quickly, do -
30ll and 3l0l.

MR. JAMES TERWILLIGER, 3027 Shorewood Lane: I would be
affected because I'm on the corner of Shorewood Curve and Lane.
I am against the installation of lighting. I think it detracts
from the character of the neighborhood. I walk that route
practically every night about 10:15 with my dog, and I enjoy
it that way. We have never had any problem - probably
because we have a dog in the house. I know there have been
problems with vandalism. We have had lawn jobs done on our
front lawns a couple of times. I have no reason to believe
if there had been a street light that it wouldn't have
happened, so I'm opposed to it.

MAYOR DEMOS: Anyone else?

MR. PAT PHILLIPS, 3084 Shorewood Lane: I wonder if it
would be all right for me to refer to the map. There were
a couple of points I thought should be pointed out to the
Council. Several of the houses, as you indicated, do benefit
from existing street lights and the area - that's primarily
(inaudible) is through the center of this section and I think
some of us that live in that particular area where I live
feel mostly concerned about how dark that is and how the fact
that it's a curvy street and the cars are tempted to go through
at high speed. Our children attend St. Rose School and this
year they're going to be getting home somewhere after 4:30 on
the school bus. At that time those streets are dark. They'll
be dark in the middle of the winter and I feel quite strongly
that we need the lights for the protection of children in the
area. I think the crime certainly is a debateable issue.
When I moved into the house I'm now in ten years ago. within
the first six months we had a burglary and I installed back-
yard lights, and whether because of that, I haven't had a
problem. 09r next door neighbor did have a problem. I feel
the presence of lights would be a deterrent. I think some
of the considerations of the people that may have been opposed,
that Joe Rivard has brought to our attention, do benefit some
of the primary (inaudible) coming in and out of their houses
through the rear entrance on Wheeler. Many have driveways on
Wheeler rather than Shorewood Lane or Curve, so I feel that
some of the people would be influenced by that consideration
