6

going to have concrete smooth as glass, but yes, there will be some
inconvenience. We agree with that, but we will make every effort
to keep the roadway open so you can get to and from your driveways
and will not have to park all the way up on Lydia.

MR. COOK: Is it a (inaudible) to ask a question about the
driveway.

MR. HONCHELL: I talked to Mr. (inaudible) today.

MR. COOK: I'd like to make my election (inaudible) we should
have some ballpark figure on a square foot basis.

MR. HONCHELL: We can give you general costs based on past
projects. We will be happy to provide you that. Perhaps if you
could just leave Mr. Strong with your name and phone number we will
contact you tomorrow and give you at least approximations.

MRS. ELIZABETH SCHMIDT, 2865 North Hamline: Do we need the
sidewalks? All that unplotted land at the corner is mine and
would the sidewalk be on my side or on the north of me?

MAYOR DEMOS: It's planned for the south side.

MRS. SCHMIDT: That would be on my side.

MR. HONCHELL: It would be not on your property, but on your
side.

MRS. SCHMIDT: I would have to maintain that sidewalk all
wfu~r. All winter I'd be scraping off the snow.

MR. HONCHELL: We're calling it a pathway rather than a formal
sidewalk and you're right, the city doesn't propose to go out and
clean that, so if it's cleaned it falls to the property owner.

MRS. SCHMIDT: I don't feel I'm capable of taking care of that
and I feel I would have a lot of complaints. I don't think anybody
would use it. Everybody rides the cars and busses. Cars are
always used. I don't see any of them walking to the church now
and I don't think the sidewalk would make them walk up there either.

MR. HONCHELL: Part of this is part of our bikeway as well.

MRS. SCHMIDT: This is my opinion. I don't know what the rest
of the neighbors feel about it. I'm not against up-grading of
he street.

MR. THOMAS HUNT, 2887 Sheldon: I sympathize with Mrs. Schmidt
but go in favor of the sidewalk because my children walk to Ralph
Reeder School and I'd just as soon have a sidewalk. Have you had a
traffic count down on C-2?

MR. HONCHELL: 1322 in 1977.
