Roseville Human Rights Commission <br />Minutes March 9, 2010 <br />Page 3 of 3 <br />Commissioner Grefenberg moved and Commissioner Yates seconded a motion for the Roseville <br />Human Rights Commission to partner with the Roseville School, Roseville Fire Department and <br />Roseville Police Department to sponsor a Karen Refugee Forum as outlined in the February 18 <br />memo. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Commissioner Yates suggested the commission make a commitment to a certain amount of <br />money to make sure this forum occurs. Commissioners encouraged Mahmud to seek funding <br />from other resources. She said she would look for funding from whatever places possible. <br />Commissioner Yates moved and Commissioner Jaeger seconded motion to donate $100 to help <br />start raising money for the forum and encourage Mahmud to seek funding from other sources. <br />Motion unanimously prevailed. <br />5. Public Comment <br />No one appeared for public comment. <br />Chair Singleton acknowledged a student in the audience. <br />6. Future Agenda Items <br />Commissioner Yates asked about the Police Department press release about the incident at <br />Rosedale Mall. Chair Singleton explained that he asked that to be included, since several <br />commissioners asked about what had happened. He indicated that there was no reason to believe <br />the fight was related to a human rights issue. <br />Commissioner Grefenberg asked that the City include a statement about seeking volunteers on <br />the Human Rights website. Chair Singleton asked that the Program Planners subcommittee look <br />into it before making a recommendation. <br />7. Announcements <br />Chair Singleton distributed certificates to each of the commissioners for completion of the <br />governance training and strategic planning. <br />Curti distributed an update about Imagine Roseville. Staff had identified items that have been <br />done, are in process, ongoing or not yet begun. She said that City Manager Bill Malinen asked <br />that Commissioners review and provide any feedback they may have on any of the items. <br />Commissioners were asked to review and send comments to Curti before the end of the month. <br />8. Adjournment <br />Chair Singleton adjourned the meeting at 7:35 p.m. <br />
