Human Rights Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />April 13, 2010 <br />Commissioners Present: Chair David Singleton; Vice -Chair Marie Oftelie; Commissioners <br />Gary Grefenberg, Liz Jaeger, Peg Kennedy, Thelma McKenzie and <br />Barb Yates. <br />1. Call to Order: Chair David Singleton called meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. The Clerk <br />called the roll. <br />2. Approve Minutes of March 9, 2010 <br />Commissioner Liz Jaeger requested clarification about the motion to allocate $100 to the New <br />American Forum. She recalled the motion was pending a formal outline before donating money. <br />Other Commissioners remembered that the $100 was approved without condition. Commissioner <br />Gary Grefenberg asked that the minutes be corrected to say that the motion passed unanimously. <br />Chair Singleton requested approval of the minutes be set aside temporarily. <br />3. Staff /Committee Reports <br />3a. Visions of Success Subcommittee <br />Commissioner Jaeger reviewed the written report including information about the Regional <br />Human Rights Commission meeting on May 27, at 5:00 p.m. at the Roseville Skating Center. <br />Area Human Rights Commissions will be invited to share successes. Commissioner Jaeger <br />requested $100 for refreshments. <br />Commissioners discussed who would attend and sponsorship. Commissioner Jaeger and <br />Commissioner Thelma McKenzie reported that the Minnesota Department of Human Rights <br />(MDHR) is inviting commissioners from Maplewood, White Bear Lake, Falcon Heights, <br />Shoreview, Arden Hills, Lake Elmo, Forest Lake and any others interested in human rights. <br />Mario Hernandez wants to include the U of M Human Rights Center. <br />Commissioner Jaeger moved and Commissioner Peg Kennedy seconded approval of up to $100 <br />to cover costs for the event. Motion prevailed unanimously. <br />Commissioner McKenzie confirmed the May 27 date. Participants will gather from 5:00 to 5:30 <br />p.m. for a meet and greet and the meeting would run from 5:30 to 8:00. <br />3b. Program Planners Subcommittee <br />Commissioner Marie Oftelie reviewed their report. They had met to finalize the grant agreement <br />to the MDHR and to draft language about soliciting volunteers. <br />
