City of <br />lei <br />Minnesota, USA <br />1 <br />2 <br />3 <br />4 <br />5 <br />6 <br />7 <br />8 <br />9 <br />10 <br />11 <br />12 <br />13 <br />14 <br />15 <br />16 <br />17 <br />18 <br />19 <br />20 <br />21 <br />22 <br />23 <br />24 <br />25 <br />26 <br />27 <br />28 <br />29 <br />30 <br />31 <br />32 <br />33 <br />34 <br />35 <br />36 <br />37 <br />38 <br />39 <br />40 <br />41 <br />42 <br />43 <br />44 <br />45 <br />Human Rights Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />October 9, 2007 <br />Present: Chair Janet Delmore, Commissioners Bob Venters, Philip Crump and Pam <br />Bosch. <br />Absent: Commissioners Tam McGehee, Thelma McKenzie and Marie Oftelie. <br />Commissioner Oftelie had previously advised Chair Delmore that she would be <br />unavailable for tonight's meeting. <br />Others Present: Finance Director Chris Miller and Recording Secretary Sheila Stowell. <br />Call to Order: Chair Delmore called the Human Rights Commission meeting to <br />order at 7:05 p.m., once a quorum was available. <br />Announcement <br />Finance Director Miller announced the upcoming City Open House and Ribbon Cutting <br />Ceremony at the Skating Center on Saturday, October 13, 2007, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. <br />Advisory commissions were encouraged to attend and interact with citizens and to provide <br />information. <br />Chair Janet Delmore and Commissioner Bob Venters volunteered to be available during the <br />event and to gather public information on the HRC. <br />Approval of Minutes <br />Commissioner Venters moved and Commissioner Bosch seconded approval of the September 11, <br />2007 meeting minutes as presented. Motion carried 4/0. <br />Elect a Chair and Vice -Chair to the Commission <br />Commissioners discussed election of officers. <br />Commissioner Crump moved and Commissioner Venters seconded, reappointment of Janet <br />Delmore to serve as Chair of the HRC, for one year beginning October 2007. Motion carried <br />4/0. <br />After a brief discussion, Commissioners agreed to wait for appointment of the Vice Chair until <br />more commissioners were present and the level of interest among individual commissioner could <br />be determined. <br />City Diversity Training <br />Commissioners discussed information on diversity training provided by City staff <br />Commissioners confirmed that they had chosen the St. Paul Foundation training and didn't need <br />additional contact information on other trainers. <br />
