Human Rights Commission 1 <br />2 <br />3 4 <br />5 <br />6 <br />7 <br />8 <br />9 <br />10 <br />11 <br />12 <br />13 <br />14 <br />15 <br />16 <br />17 <br />18 <br />19 <br />20 <br />21 <br />22 <br />Meeting Minutes <br />June 9, 2009 <br /> <br />Call to Order: Vice Chair Marie Oftelie called the meeting of the Roseville <br />Human Rights Commission (HRC) to order at 7:05 p.m. <br /> <br />Commissioners Present: Commissioners Gary Grefenberg; Liz Jaeger; Thelma McKenzie; <br />Marie Oftelie; Barbara Yates; Chair David Singleton arrived at <br />7:08 p.m. <br /> <br />Commissioners Absent: Commissioner Peg Kennedy <br /> <br />Others Present: Communications Specialist Carol yn Curti; City Manager Bill <br />Malinen; City Manager Intern Zach Rogers; and Recording <br />Secretary Sheila Stowell. <br /> <br />Ms. Curti distributed the Rosefest Parade Route to HRC members. <br /> <br />Approve Minutes of May 12, 2009 <br />Member Grefenberg moved, seconded by Member Jaeger, to amend the draft May 12, minutes as <br />follows: <br /> Page 3, Lines 21-22, correct to read less subjectively: 23 <br />“Members were [seemed] pleased that the vision of th e HRC and the City Council were <br />apparently unified based on that approval.” <br />24 <br />25 <br />26 <br />27 <br />28 <br />29 <br />30 <br />31 <br />32 <br />33 <br />Motion carried: 5/0/1 (McKenzie) <br /> <br />Member Grefenberg moved, seconded by Member J aeger, to rescind previ ous approval of April <br />14, 2009 HRC meeting minutes to allow for additional corrections. <br />Motion carried: 5/0/1 (McKenzie) <br /> <br />Member Grefenberg moved, seconded by Member J aeger, to amend the previously adopted April <br />14, 2009 HRC minutes for th e following correction: <br /> Page 1, Line 41, correct to read less subjectively: 34 <br />“Commissioner Grefenberg opined his passionate disagreement with the first three sentences <br />in Section F, …” <br />35 <br />36 <br />37 <br />38 <br />39 <br />40 <br />41 <br />42 <br />43 <br />44 <br />45 <br />Motion carried: 5/0/1 (McKenzie) <br /> <br />Member Grefenberg moved, seconded by Member Jaeger, to approve the minutes of May 12, <br />2009 as amended. Motion carried: 5/0/1 (McKenzie) <br /> <br />Discussion about conducting anoth er Cultural Complementarity Forum <br />Guests Victoria Amaris, formerly with United Way and designer of their since-discontinued <br />Cultural Dynamics Program; and Cynthia Single ton, were present to review the October 2008 <br />Human Rights Commission Dialogue and to assist the HRC for future forums.
