Human Rights Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />August 11, 2009 <br /> <br />Call to Order: Chair David Singleton called to order the meeting of the Roseville Human <br />Rights Commission (HRC) at a pproximately 6:38 p.m. <br /> <br />Commissioners Present: Chair David Singleton; Vice Chair Marie Oftelie; and <br />Commissioners Gary Grefenberg; Barbara Yates; Peg Kennedy; <br />and Thelma McKenzie <br /> <br />Commissioners Excused: Commissioner Liz Jaeger <br /> <br />Others Present: Communications Specialist Carolyn Curti and Recording Secretary <br />Sheila Stowell <br /> <br />I. Approve Minutes of June 9, 2009 <br /> <br />Corrections : <br /> Page 4, line 35 (Grefenberg) <br />Correct to read: <br />“Member Grefenberg withdrew his motion a nd volunteered to assi st Member Yates.” <br /> <br /> Page 5, lines 33 – 35 (Oftelie) <br />Include identification of Ch air Singleton and Members Grefenberg and Oftelie as <br />volunteering to par ticipate in the annual Rose Parade. <br /> <br />Member Yates moved, seconded by Member Oftelie, to approve the HRC meeting <br />minutes of June 9, 2009 as amended. Motion carried: 6/0/1 (Kennedy) <br /> <br />II. Community Forum Planning <br />Member McKenzie and Ms. Curti provided an update on plans for the Community <br />Forum, on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Their report included information on catering services and cost estimates and menus, <br />with plans to lower food costs by offering a lig ht meal followed by the forum; inability to <br />contact MountainTop Institute (possibly no longer in business) and Member Oftelie <br />preparing a similar graphics for the even t, crediting them for the “iceberg” model; <br />clarification by Member Kennedy on use of copyr ight material not used for profit; and <br />preparation of an application by Member McKenzie on a grant through the Community <br />Fund to assist in paying Victoria Amaris to facilitate the meeting. <br /> <br />Further discussion included next steps (i .e., submission by HRC members of suggested <br />questions for the discussion group); addi tional meeting(s) of the HRC Planning <br />Committee; coordination with Mr. Jan Vanderwall represen ting both the Roseville Area
