Human Rights Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />September 8, 2009 <br /> <br />Call to Order: Chair David Singleton called to order the meeting of the Roseville Human <br />Rights Commission (HRC) at a pproximately 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Commissioners Present: Chair David Singleton; and Comm issioners Liz Jaeger; Barbara <br />Yates; Marie Oftelie; with Commissioner Gary Grefenberg <br />arriving at 6:38 p.m.; and Co mmissioners Peg Kennedy and <br />Thelma McKenzie arriving at approximately 6:55 p.m. <br /> <br />Others Present: Communications Specialist Carolyn Curti and Recording Secretary <br />Sheila Stowell <br /> <br />I. Approve Minutes of August 11, 2009 <br />Member Yates moved, seconded by Member Oftelie, to approve the HRC meeting <br />minutes of August 11, 2009 as amended. Motion carried: 4/0/1 (Jaeger) <br /> <br />Corrections : <br /> Page 6, line 15 (Jaeger) <br />Correct reference to “mother-in -law,” rather than “mother.” <br /> <br />II. Update on Community Forum Planning <br />Staff Liaison Carolyn Curti reviewed the writte n report of the Planning Subcommittee included <br />in the Agenda Packet. Ms. Curti gave members copies of the forum flyers to distribute, in <br />addition to those being distributed by members of the forum planning committee. <br /> <br />Discussion included money in-hand and that for which commitments had been received, as well <br />as anticipated funds; speakers, proposed topics, and questions for the break-out (“village”) <br />sessions; costs of food for this forum versus those of the 2008 forum; possibility of seeking <br />donations if necessary and/or charging a minimal f ee to participants; and no cost for room rental <br />for the event. <br /> <br />Ms. Curti noted potential legal lim itations for the City asking for donations; and advised that she <br />would research any issues and provide a response to the HRC. <br /> <br />The Planning Subcommittee anticipated meeting on ce more if necessary, in addition to e-mailing <br />various logistical points as required; with a final report at the October HRC meeting. <br /> <br />Chair Singleton thanked the Planning Subcommittee for their work and his anticipation in seeing <br />the final plan. <br /> <br />III. Discussion of September 28 meeting with City Council
