Business Items—Presentations/Discussions <br /> a. Discuss the Request for a City Code Variance by Grumpy's Bar & Grill to <br /> allow a non-Roseville-based organization to conduct lawful gambling activi- <br /> ties <br /> Finance Director Chris Miller briefly summarized the RCA dated January 10, <br /> 2011 for potential consideration of changing City Code, Chapter 304, to accom- <br /> modate organizations other than Roseville-based, but conducting lawful gambling <br /> activities within the City limits. A representative of Grumpy's Bar & Grill and a <br /> representative of the Blaine Lion's Club, the organization interested in pull tabs at <br /> Grumpy's. A letter of request form Grumpy's had been included as part of the <br /> RCA. <br /> Mayor Roe clarified that this was for discussion purposes only tonight, and no ac- <br /> tion was requested, but to seek Councilmember input on any interest in making <br /> revisions to the City Code. <br /> Discussion included rationale for restricting gambling activities to Roseville- <br /> based businesses, a common restriction for cities in the metropolitan area; benefits <br /> to the community from profits; and the percentage of those profits. <br /> Blaine Lion's Club Representative <br />
