<br />Planning Commission Board Meeting <br />City Council Chambers, 2660 Civic Center Drive <br />Minutes - Wednesday, January 6, 2010 <br />1. Call to Order <br />1 <br />Chair Doherty called to order the Planning Commission meeting at approximately 6:30 <br />2 <br />p.m. and reviewed the role and purpose of the Planning Commission. <br />3 <br />2. Roll Call & Introductions <br />4 <br />City Planner Thomas Paschke called the Roll. <br />5 <br />Members Present: Chair Jim Doherty; and Commissioners Glenn Cook; Joe <br />6 <br />Wozniak; John Gisselquist; and Andre Best <br />7 <br />Members Absent: Thomas Gottfried <br />8 <br />Members Excused: Commissioner Daniel Boerigter <br />9 <br />Staff present: Community Development Director Patrick Trudgeon; City Planner <br />10 <br />Thomas Paschke; and Associate Planner Bryan Lloyd <br />11 <br />3. Review of Minutes <br />12 <br />Review of the October 7, 2009 meeting minutes was deferred to a future meeting. <br />13 <br />MOTION <br />14 <br />Member Cook moved, seconded by Member Doherty to approve meeting minutes of <br />15 <br />December 16, 2009 as presented. <br />16 <br />Ayes: 4 <br />17 <br />Nays: 0 <br />18 <br />Abstentions: 1 (Wozniak) <br />19 <br />Motion carried. <br />20 <br />Chair Doherty advised, for the benefit of audience members in attendance specific to this <br />21 <br />case, that the applicant for Planning File 10-002 (Request by Riaz Hussain for approval of <br />22 <br />an amendment to an existing CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT to allow the parking areas <br />23 <br />adjacent to Autumn Street to remain at 1901 Lexington Avenue), had requested an <br />24 <br />extension and, while the Public Hearing would be opened tonight, it would subsequently <br />25 <br />be closed and continued to a future meeting. <br />26 <br />4. From the Parks and Recreation Department <br />32 <br />Update on the Park Master Planning effort by Lonnie Brokke, Department Director <br />33 <br />Parks and Recreation Director Lonnie Brokke <br />34 <br />Mr. Brokke provided an update on the status of the Parks and Recreation Master <br />35 <br />Plan planning process to-date, including a history of the original Master Plan <br />36 <br />dated in 1960, in addition to several updates since then specific to particular <br />37 <br />facilities. Mr. Brokke reviewed the purpose of the Master Plan process in ensuring <br />38 <br />the future investment by the community in its parks and facilities, as well as <br />39 <br />meeting current and future community needs and priorities. <br />40 <br />Mr. Brokke reviewed goals of the Master Plan process to engage the community <br />41 <br />to frame the plan and establish standards or reinforce existing standards to <br />42 <br />perpetuate a high-quality system, which took in to account societal and <br />43 <br />community changes, allowing the City to be responsive, and to provide an <br />44 <br />intergenerational park system. <br />45 <br /> <br />
