so appreciate the foresight to not recommend parking on Prior Avenue between
Age Avenue and Sharondale Avenue since this is a drop off and pick up area
various individuals that use the Fairview Community Center from preschoolers
eniors.
that the intention is to allow parking on the east side of Prior between
er Avenue and Eldridge Ave "to be allowed to park in adjacent the fields
er than out in the neighborhood if existing parking lots are full." I
eve this can be accomplished without any existing changes to signage and I do
believe parking in the adjacent neighborhood is an issue.
1 the co-block captain and organize a neighborhood block party each year for
hbors on County Road B, Sharondale, Eldridge, Cleveland, Wilder and Prior
ues. I attended Park Board meetings and meetings with the Bob Riggs and
,r representatives of the School System as we explored girls' softball fields
he area south of the Fairview Community Center (hereafter designated as "open
e").
e is a need for more open green space in the southwest section of Roseville.
is an agreed upon position. Initially Bob Riggs and members of the School
em suggested two girls' softball fields on the east side of the "open space".
-at with neighbors east or and west of the "open space", and as a certified
ator with the MN Supreme Court I suggested ways to try and mitigate this
ess. Eventually it was agreed to build initially one girls softball field
ig the west side of the "open space" on the northwest corner. The neighbors
' he west side of the Fairview Community Center did not object to this scenario
gong as the fence stayed up and parking remained as it is now. There was a
ern about traffic, trash, noise and safety. This was voiced in a public
am by members of the community including myself.
ent to the Fairview Community Center and asked to see plans related to the
1 field layout with a girls' softball field on the northwest corner of the
space. I was told in the office that they had none for the layout and they
not know where to obtain those plans. I asked if the fence on the west side
id remain in place. I was assured it would be placed back where it was
ginally.
the fields were completed the school district did not replace the fence
re it had previously been. Rather the fence now has a gate that is wide
,gh to drive a vehicle through the opening. Note there had been storage in
area before and there was a gate to a totally fenced in area so that this was
a thoroughfare. A wide asphalt drivable path now runs from Eldridge around
south side of the Fairview Community Center to the parking lot on the east
If this remains closed except for when the school district needs to
duct maintenance we see no problems in the neighborhood, but clearly this was
expected. In every public meeting I attended the school district
'esented the traffic flow was intended to be from the parking lot in front
th side) of and next to (east side) the Fairview Community Center. The
Doi district never indicated any intention to removing parking restrictions on
east side of Prior Avenue or access via Prior Avenue to these fields.
