ghat can we do about this? When we have had high school graduations or other
Lar events in this neighborhood, where neighbors have wanted to make use of
ing on Prior Avenue we have contacted the city, obtained permission and
ed bags over the no parking signs for limited periods of time to allow for
ing on the east side Prior. I believe as an accommodation this could
ntially work for dates when "existing parking lots are full." I see this
)eing very infrequent given normal traffic in the lots. Perhaps a similar
oach could be implemented. However, I would recommend remaining the status
with the signs in place.
ently the boys baseball field on the southwest corner of the "open space"
works out fine with the current restrictions. On game days cars park
her up the street on Skillman when the small lot next to the tennis courts is
and this works out fine.
lye lived here since 1991. I would offer the following comments.
s aesthetically pleasing to look down Prior to the tennis courts and not see
parked cars. I believe the walkers, joggers, those that drive disability
)ters, and neighbors in this area appreciate this too. It adds to the feeling
,pen space to not see parked cars on the east side of Prior Avenue. With this
ue being a primary pedestrian area with no sidewalk, the wide street is
ucive to this type of bike and pedestrian traffic.
out people parking here, there is limited trash and debris. I often walk up
,r Avenue after baseball games and pick up trash placing it in the garbage
ainer at the boys' baseball field. When that is full, I have picked up trash
brought it to my own home for disposal. I am concerned that parking on Prior
ue will make this problem worse.
ought there was no parking there initially when I moved in the neighborhood
matter of safety. The fence for softball or baseball is relatively close to
street. I thought this was a wise idea to keep cars from being damaged. I
,ght that was very progressive on the part of Roseville. There is a fence
oximately 12 feet from the street that runs parallel to Prior Avenue.
increased car traffic and people, a quiet peaceful street will now become
active due to those parking on Prior Avenue. None of the neighbors have
, :,lained about parking on the adjacent streets to my knowledge. This has not
an issue.
n these facts, I would respectfully submit to have the no parking ban
tinue on the east side of Prior between Shryer and Eldridge. I believe the
of district was not entirely forthcoming regarding the gate and now the
ing issue presented here. By the way I just walked down past the gate (noon
aturday March 19, 2011) and it was wide open so a car could have driven
ugh from Prior Avenue to the east parking lot. Unfortunately, I do not
eve I will be able to attend or organize the neighbors by Monday. However,
ou elect to allow parking on Prior Avenue, I will follow up with neighbors
if there are neighborhood objections, I will be happy to bring these back to
attention. I do believe the many walkers, seniors, disabled on motorized
