8

me specify on concrete (inaudible) concrete gutters, you can get a
churchmouse behind that and they can wash out roads too. I'm in
the construction business. Asphalt - snow will melt off asphalt
quicker than a concrete road. If you want a road free of snow and
ice and you lay it down (inaudible) asphalt will be free before the
concrete.

MAYOR DEMOS: We don't build concrete roads.

MR. HOFMEISTER: You do curbs. This curb you build in is
concrete at $50 a yard.

MAYOR DEMOS: Because the asphalt curbs the snow plow would
take a gouge out of right away.

MR. HOFMEISTER: (inaudible) I'm quite familiar with the
area myself. I helped my uncle build his garage at 711 Lovell so
I'm familiar with the area. I'm concerned for these people on the
south side of the street. There are some beautiful homes they're
putting in and, think about it yourself. If you're in a home
worth from $70,000 on up, how would you like to have 15 feet of your
yard torn off.

l1AYOR DEMOS: Wait a minute.
it's not their property.

That property was dedicated so

MR. HOFMEISTER: How can the City of Roseville issue a building
permit to put a house that close to the roadway.

MAYOR DEMOS: That would be 35 feet.

MR. HOFMEISTER: I'm not going to take up any more of your
time. Like I say, the road is in good shape now. I can't see
spending a good buck to replace something that's in good shape.

MR. JAMES LAWMAN, 719 Lovell: I am for the street improve-
m~nt. They do speed down our street and I don't think if you did
make the street wider that it would increase it any. Also,
whenever anybody comes and visits me, I try to get them not to park
on the street because (inaudible) I have been told there are a lot
of people (inaudible) because of the size of the street. I have
seen them park on the south side of the street and if they park there
right on the corner (inaudible) you go straight down the middle
the middle of the road you run into the next guy's property.
If you went on the right lane heading west on Lovell you would hit
Grotto just about half way, and also there's a reflective sign they
used to have up on the corner on the (inaudible) north corner that
has been knocked down about two or three times since we've lived
there in 2 and a half or three years and I don't know why they
ever made a street like that (inaudible) that it came out straight.
(Inaudible) hard spot to see, but I'm for it and sorry to say that
the people across the street (inaudible) I wish they would have
been told. I talked to the person who was building there and
(inaudible) I can understand you have to do everything once, but
at least knock off that 16 feet on the corner or bring it over so
it's straight, a straight run and not where you hit the side of
the property.
