9

COUNCILMAN FRANKE: How did that street get put in that way?
It's a good street. How did it get put in?

tffi. HONCHELL: That's where the right-of-way was available.
Until the south side of the road got platted we had no right-of-way
to build the road.

I~YOR DEMOS: If the owner of the property refused to give
it up - that's what happened on Shryer at Lexington where the
one gentleman held it all and when the people had petitioned
earlier the Council was against (inaudible)

MR. FLORIAN DOSTERT, 727 Lovell: On the west side of Grotto
between Cope and Lovell there's a dead-end (inaudible) At one
time Cope was not cut through and there was a dead-end, and if
you went to (inaudible) Now Cope is cut through from Grotto to
Dale. Any traffic traveling south - not a lot - but from County
Road B-2 or from Grandview which might have gone down to Cope,
would now come out of Lovell.

MAYOR DEMOS: So you're saying, take the sign out.

MR. DOSTERT: It should be a two-way or (inaudible).

MRS. FLORIAN DOSTERT, 727 Lovell: We have been there for
27 years. When we moved in they told us we had another 6 feet
beyond where the street was then because we only had a half a
street. Every time they did something to it they widened it a
little more so it's wider than when we moved in. The street has
been kept in very good condition. They resurfaced it last summer.
We have no complaint. I sympathize with the people that have just
moved in because this is a surprise to them. They have beautiful
front yards that I enjoy looking at. It's a pleasure to have homes
after looking at a weedy meadow. (inaudible) our yard would get
bigger and it would give us 6 more feet. One of their driveways
is concrete. We've had two cars totaled out in front of our house.
We have had cars parked across the street in this once open meadow
that have been hit even there. Another problem we have (inaudible)
we have three cars in our home. Because of the distance from our
garage to the end of the road, we can squeeze two in the driveway
up to the garage, but the tail end is hanging over the apron and comes
to the edge of the street. All of us have single driveways.
The new homes across the street have double garages and double
driveways and they can get about six cars in their driveways where
we're lucky to get two. We have waited all these years. There
still was no problem until the property across the street was
developed and this is where our problem is coming (inaudible)
It's just too short. (Inaudible) I also sympathize with them for
not caring for an improvement and more expense. It couldn't be
more than $100 a year over 15 years which is not a big amount for
what you get. Both the corner people have their driveways around
the corner. They only have four people on their whole block that
they have to contend with on this parking (inaudible)
