139
140 Chair Pro -Tem Eckman recognized and expressed appreciation to Mr. Petersen for his work to-
141 date on the Board's website and the user friendly placement of GLWMO cost -share information.
142 Ayes: 4
143 Nays: 0
144 Motion carried.
145
146 New Item (Agenda Addition per Mr. Petersen request)
147 Motion 11 -03 -09
148 Member Miller moved, and Member Von De Linde seconded, approval of an invoice in the
149 amount of $76.49 provided as a bench handout by Mr. Petersen, attached hereto and made a
150 part hereof, to reimburse Mr. Petersen for copy costs at Staples for sixty -five (65) copies of new
151 brochures related to the cost -share program.
152 Ayes: 4
153 Nays: 0
154 Motion carried.
155 Old Business
156
157 Draft 2011 Work Plan
158 Mr. Petersen gave a brief over -view of the draft 2011 Work -Plan for GLWMO (as attached to
159 these minutes).
160 Discussion by the Board included those items included on the list that had already been
161 completed, and those pending. Mr. Petersen noted that the items were listed in chronological
162 order, with some ongoing and some planned in the future. The work Plan is meant for the
163 Organization, not specifically for him as an Administrator.
164
165 Items discusses
166 Hold two shoreline restoration workshops (Late April)
167 Mr. Petersen advised that this was originally discussed at the February meeting among Board
168 members and Ryan Johnson with the RCD; however, after further discussion by Mr. Petersen
169 and Mr. Johnson, it was determined that such an early timeframe for tours was not feasible. Mr.
170 Petersen noted that it was still the consensus to hold one to two workshops on Lake Owasso,
171 Wabasso Lake and Snail Lake to alert shoreline residents to the cost -share programs available for
172 shoreline stabilization and maintenance. However, Mr. Petersen suggested that it was essential
173 for future grant applications for Shoreline Stabilization Grant funds, a very competitive grant
174 program, that the Board hold the workshops, with one in Shoreview and one in Roseville at their
175 respective City Halls, and recruit 10 -15 residents interested in the program, in order to leverage
176 those grant resources in July. Mr. Petersen opined that by having a definite need identified with
177 interested parties, it would provide more impetus in leveraging those funds for the GLWMO.
178 Mr. Petersen advised that Mr. Johnson was willing to work with him in planning the meetings;
179 and expressed interest in advertising the workshops in the respective member City newsletters;
180 or to send direct mail postcard notices through the member cities to residents on lakes, to serve
181 as personal invitations to them and garner their interest. Mr. Petersen suggested that the Board
182 enlist the assistance of Len Ferrington to alert fellow residents on Lake Owasso and Wabasso
183 Lake and to also enlist the assistance of Mr. Maloney for residents on Snail Lake.
4
