MR. HONCHELL: Certainly. As I said, we want to know any
problems there are. I'll even say this, for those of you that
didn't specifically speak tonight - if you have any specific in-
formation on your street that would aid us in doing the design -
we would like to know that. Again, within the parameters of a
street project - not a storm drainage project - we do have the
latitude to do some storm sewer collection with this project.
Yes, we would do everything we could to solve the problems.

COUNCILMAN KEHR: (Inaudible) I just wanted to check this.
When you go into private property - if they went into my back yard
and you provided me with a drain field that went into the storm
sewer - that would be my expense, wouldn't it?

. MR. HONCHELL: No, this would have to be done as part of this
project.

MR. POPOVICH: Part of the project - no changes.

MR. HONCHELL: We would also request an easement from the
people because they would then be public improvements. It
wouldn't become a private "improvement. It's a public improvement.

MAYOR DEMOS: Anyone else from Fernwood Avenue? Well, I
closed the hearing.

MR. CLIFFORD CHRISTIANSEN, 2756 Fernwood: Mayor, may I ask
one question?

MAYOR DEMOS: One question.

MR. CHRISTIANSEN: After the questioning from this Council
and Mr. Honchell on this project, this going into the back yards
- it sounds sort of major in certain areas - how does this affect
the $10.82 per running foot figure? Is this going to greatly
enlarge on that? Could you kind of expand on that? I'm sorry
to bring this up, but this is a relevant factor.

MR. HONCHELL: This particular project is estimated at $lSl,OOC
plus at this point. Obviously, the storm sewers aren't going to
come free. You're right. Somewhere it's a cost. I guess I would
hate to hazard a guess as to just how many dollars that's going to
be, because at this point I don't know the full extent of either
the problems or the solutions. It is safe to say that it's going
to cost several thousands of dollars simply to run even a pipe
and a catch basin and something back into that area. By nature
of the way public improvements are done, the ultimate final cost
has to be in general line with what we're telling you here tonight.
(Inaudible) may be a little over $151,000. Should we move for-
ward on the improvement and propose to include what at least some
of you may feel are rather high costs - when we get to this and
find they're excessive - weill simply either have to have another
hearing or ask you people if you wish to go ahead with the improve-
ment or find a way to cut costs. I have to admit to you that I
am rather hopeful that we will continue to see excellent bidding
conditions in the next two months. But I can't guarantee that.
