<br />EXTRACT OF MINUTES OF MEETING OF THE CITY COUNC IL <br />OF ROSEVILLE, MINNESOTA, HELD - June 15, 1981 <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* * <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City Council <br />of the City of Roseville, met in special session at the City Hall on <br />Monday, June 15, 1981, at 4:00 o'clock P.M. <br /> <br />The following members were present: Mayor Demos, <br />Councilmen Curley, Kehr and Franke <br /> <br />Absent: Councilman Johnson <br /> <br />Councilman Franke introduced the following resolution <br />and moved its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 7170 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Roseville, Minnesota, has sustained <br />severe losses of a major proportion, brought on by a tornado, on the <br />date of June 14, 1981: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, City of Roseville is a public entity within the <br />State of Minnesota; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the conditions existing in the City of Roseville <br />as a result of the disaster are: <br /> <br />Over 350 residential units were damaged <br />leaving approximately 200 individuals homeless <br />and over 25 businesses and numerous public <br />facilities were not operable; and the damages <br />being estimated at $24,979,090.00. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council for, <br />and on behalf of the citizens of Roseville, request the Governor of <br />the State of Minnesota to petition the President of the United States <br />to declare the County of Ramsey, Minnesota, to be a major disaster area <br />through appropriate channels. <br /> <br />The individual and Family Grant Program of Public Law 93-288 <br />is requested for this Presidential declaration, and, if requested, Ramsey <br />County will support and assist in the administration of the Individual <br />and Family Grant Program as requi red. <br /> <br />The County Ci vil Defense/Emergency Servi ces Di rector is <br />authorized to coordinate the Damage Survey Teams with the local units <br />of government of the County; <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Ramsey County Board of <br />Commissioners be requested to adopt a resolution supporting the purpose <br />of this resolution. <br />
