MR. STEVE NORTH: Why don't you give me a call - my number
~s 484-3371. It's the City Hall number.

COUNCILMAN CURLEY: On that 75% that goes on property
taxes - you have to remember that this 75% is being picked up
by business, commercial and all types of people - not just you
people, not just the homeowners in Roseville. It's a very good
deal for you people to get this at 25% of the cost.

MR. HONCHELL: I think he's talking about the percent of
this project - not the percent of the increase in your recent
taxes - if I understood him correctly. 75% of the cost of this
project will be picked up by someone other than those living
in the area. Only a quarter of the cost would be paid by the
people in the area itself. '

~1AN IN AUDIENCE: Does the State have the money from State
aids? I understand they're a little short.

MAYOR DEMOS: State aid funds come from gasoline taxes,
license plates - they have an account from the City of Roseville
and they can't take that. That's why we're spending it.

MAN IN AUDIENCE: They're looking for extra money where-
ever they can find it.

(,

MAYOR DEMOS: They can't take that.

MR. KEITH SCHOTTLER, 1046 West County Road B-2: I wanted
to ask a question - could it be done at this time to fill in
that ditch on the south side of B-2? Why is it essential that
we maintain that and on the north side they don't have one and
half of them are filled up anyhow.

MR. HONCHELL: we, as part of this project, are proposing
to attempt to do all the fill we can in those ditches. The
problem we have is that the County, typically, doesn't want
to have the entire ditch filled because 'they don't want the
water running down the street - that's why the ditches are
there in the first place - to keep the water off the roadway
surface. If the county will cooperate by putting some sort of
little roll or bituminous curb on the edge of the roadway, we
would be willing to fill the ditch and put that ,catch basin
out on the edge of the road. Unfortunately that hasn't been
the standard way the county does it. If this passes, we'll
be happy to go to the county and see if they'll do it that
way - see if they'll allow it to be done so that the drainage
facilities are out on the edge and then there won't be those
ditches. I can't promise you that because that isn't what
they usually allow.

MR. SCHOTTLER: Try hard, will you?

MAYOR DEMOS: You might try hard too - call your County
Commissioner.

21
