COUNCILV~~ KE~R: That's why I wanted that knoll cut out of
there and moved UD towards victoria, since you're going to
~xc;vate there an~'ay for that holding pond. Then you might
just as well cut that knoll out and move it up.

MR. HONCHELL: Moving this little knob out toward the
Victoria side is not a major cost.

MAYOR DEMOS: We will now go to the reconstruction of
Brooks and Transit Avenues from Lexington to Victoria Avenues,
plus the installation of a water service - Improvement W-P-80-31.

MR. POPOVICH: Mayor and members of the Council, the total
cost of this project is $359,l5l.10. This is an M.S.A. project
so none of this will be ,assessed against the property owners.
There is an assessment for one parcel of property for a water
service - $710.42. We would recommend that that be tied into
the same length of assessment as the storm sewer portion. If
there is some way to get rid of this one assessment in this
improvement itself, we wouldn't have to carry it on the books.

I
\

MAYOR DEMOS: Are there any written statements?

MR. NORTH: The only statement we have is the petition
that I referred ko earlier regarding the storm sewer from the
five different property owners on Transit. They are also
supporting the upgrading of the street. (The five property
owners were Katherine Anderson, 917 Transit; Roger Christensen,
944 Transit; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Smith, 895 Transit; Mr. and
Mrs. Harvey Slettedahl, 885 Transit; and Greg Revering, 912
Transit.)

MAYOR DEMOS:
again ask that you
and the address of
This is the paving

I will open this hearing to the public and
come to the microphone and give your name
the property to which you're referring.
of Brooks and Transit and one water service.

MR. MERVIN HITES, 882 Transit: I would like to vote in
favor of this project.

MR. CARL ANDERSON, 917 Transit: I'm in .favor of the
project. I'd like to comment about the parking, particularly
the area on Brooks. I did talk to one neighbor and they
indicated interest - along the park - there ,is a'problem with
parking, especially in the evening. Young adults, teenagers,
they come home late at night, I'm sure they want to step out
of the car and into the garage - things like that - so I
would suggest that if parking is banned that it be banned on
the north side on Brooks. On Transit, I guess I have no
feelings one way or the other at this time. I see no reason
why it couldn't be banned on the north side on Brooks and the
south side on Transit. I have no feeling on Transit though.
One other comment about the parking - occasionally, I don't
know if it's happened recently - but there's a ball field just

13
