MR. THOLE: It was for parking - it was a one buck deal.

MAYOR DEMOS: We can take care of it. The paving of
Brooks and Transit and a water service. At this time I will
close this hearing and ask for the Council's action.

MR. HARVEY SLETTEDAHL, 885 Transit: Could I speak on
the parking? I live on the north side of Transit and I see no _
absolutely no reason for any ban of parking along there. There
are times when it's nice to have somebody be able to park -
when you have company and more than two automobiles show up.

MAYOR DEMOS: On state aid streets, unless we go to 42
feet, we have to ban parking on one side. This is because
you're carrying all this traffic, if you want it to move through,
for emergency vehicles, etc. - that is the reason. The only way
you can have parking on both sides of an M.S.A. road is if you
do go to 42 feet wide. I guess I feel 42 is rather excessive
for this particular area.

COUNCILMAN JOHNSON: If Mr. Slettedahl was to talk to his
neighbors along that area and the concensus was - on that
piece of Transit - that parking would be banned on the other
side of it - I assume this is still flexible and we could
change this?

(

MAYOR DEMOS: You could change that up until the time you
put the signs:up.

COUNCILMAN JOHNSON: So if you want to check it aut with
your neighbors on both sides of the street - maybe you could
come up with a consensus. We have to take the parking off of
one side or the other.

MAYOR DEMOS: That's for that piece of Transit only.

COUNCILMAN JOHNSON: Yes. I'm not talking about Brooks.

MR. HONCHELL: Just to clarify that a little - the State
will require an official resolution of our action - establishing
where it's banned and where it's not.

COUNCILMAN JOHNSON: So the Council would have to take
action but it's still flexible until we take that action.

MR. HONCHELL: To process the plans they'll want to have
a copy of this.

MR. POPOVICH: You'll pass the resolution tonight but
it's subject to amendment later.

COUNCILMAN KEHR then introduced the following resolution
and moved its adoption:

15
